I have the option to get Windows 8 on a new laptop for no extra cost than getting it with Windows 7. However, I'm not sure if it's worth it. I'm primarily going to be using the laptop for gaming, papers, and computer programming. I don't know much about Windows 8, but it seems like a tablet OS implemented on a laptop. I feel like this sort of OS would only make things more difficult, but I want to hear what other people think. Thanks!

Hi there,
I would recommend upgrading, even though you think its a lot of money. If nothing else, you will be one more step up to date, which is important in an ever evolving world of technology.
Operating systems fall off the support spectrum after a period of time and therefore other vendors stop making products for them (or drivers, in the case of printers and other hardware).
We reviewed Windows 8, we'd be interested to hear what you think of it.
I recently got Windows 8. Its true that it looks more like a tablet OS, and it was a little confusing at first BUT you can still access to something that looks like Windows 7 (desktop) and its almost exactly like it's not Windows 8 in this part.
So, it's like Windows 7, plus a "tablet main page" that you can customize and put applications on. I like Windows 8 very much, personally. However, I don't do computer programming very complex, so, I don't know if windows 8 makes things harder or not...
humorous to work out this question as I had somebody do this for me in the present day! i bought a Sony Vaio with living house windows 8 final week and tried it out over the weekend. living house windows 8 is so difficult to apply! I gave up at last and gave it to a working laptop or laptop restore guy to downgrade it to living house windows 7. regrettably, i do no longer think of this is an common technique because it took him some hours to style it out (he did point out that he had to replace drivers to get it to artwork) you need to do it although, Win8 is a nightmare to apply. If uncertain get a expert to do it. while you're quite laptop savvy, examine out threads on some boards to work out how human beings have executed it
I put windows 8 on my laptop since I could buy a copy for 40$ and my laptop had vista. A couple of tweeks and the laptop behaves and looks like my windows7 desktop. My feeling is that win8 is a little faster on the internet than win7 and definitely boots up quicker BUT I am not a gamer so cannot comment on gameplaying
yes! my parents got me a new laptop because my old one broke. It came with Windows 8 and I love it. The live tiles are fun and it's even more efficient to work on im my opinion.
