Downgrading a Windows 8 laptop to Windows 7?
Just wondering, I've bought a new laptop which is due to arrive tomorrow which has Windows 8 pre-installed, I have no desire to attempt to use Win8 and have a legitimate copy of Windows 7 I'm going to install. If I just put Windows 7 straight onto it when it arrives do I need to worry about updating drivers etc or downloading windows 7 drivers specifically? Or will it all be done automatically on install? (Are the drivers even any different?)
Thanks

its easy but u first needa go in the bios so u will have to set up windows 8 and enter the bios heres how:
http://acer--uk.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_...
once ur in the bios look for a option to change the bios from uefi to legacy bios which is the traditional bios where u press f1 or some, thing to neter it once done u should have the normal legacy bios on ur computer. then insert ur windows 7 dvd and install as u would on any other computer. some drivers will be installed but u might needa go into windows update to update drivers but windows update will install any missing drivers for you u dont needa search use windows update.
u may need to set windows update to check for drivers by
start menu-computer-system properties-advanced system settings-hardware tab-device installation settings and then select "yes do this automatically". or if u have a cd/dvd with drivers u could use that but windows update is best choice if u have internet access. the most important drivers is just ur network driver/wifi driver and ur display driver and sound

Funny to see this question as I had someone do this for me today! I bought a Sony Vaio with Windows 8 last week and tried it out over the weekend. Windows 8 is so difficult to use! I gave up eventually and gave it to a computer repair guy to downgrade it to Windows 7.
Unfortunately, I don't think it's a straightforward process as it took him a few hours to sort it out (he did mention that he had to update drivers to get it to work) You have to do it though, Win8 is a nightmare to use.
If in doubt get a professional to do it. If you are really computer savvy, check out threads on some forums to see how people have done it

It took me so long to wipe Windows 8 from my laptop. It refused to co-operate or do anything.
I eventually had to remove it, put it in an external HHD drive, and format + install Windows 7 from a separate laptop.
The drivers for Windows 8 and your laptop will be on a CD. You can use this for Windows 7 and it will actually have Windows 7 compatible drivers on this CD.

Don't worry! If it's registered, then it's no problem. Just install the operating system and delete windows 8 and everything should be fine!

Downgrading it is a possibility. I downgrade most of my computers to their factory states. It is safe, but I would suggest wiping out the drive and install a clean copy on Windows 7.

your causeing yourself a lot of work. I would just stick with 8 and disable the metro windows whole thing and get the start button back.
otherwise clean install time and wipe the Hdd as you cant down grade.

Choice is yours. Choose wisely. make sure you do have the 7 drivers FIRST.

Doesnt sound too easy. Try editing the boot.ini file to boot from the CD location if your BIOS won't allow it.
