How many of you people who are for stricter gun control have fired an AR-15?

I purchased a Colt R6520 AR-15 in 1993 and have used it for varmint control and target shooting ever since its one of my most favorite semi-auto rifles,I have clips ranging from 5 rounds up to 100 round drum magazines. I have several other semi-auto rifles such a SKS 7.62x39 an AK47, 9mm UZI carbine Model B and a MAC 11
I prefer my M16A1 & M16A2 to all of the above however parts for these are very expensive so they are only used 2-3 times a year at area Rallies for NFA weapons..

The only stricter gun control that I agree with is
1..Stricter Background checks::
There should be background checks required for ALL firearms(including long guns)...All transfers of firearms or gifts of firearms should be required to go through a FFL dealer and require a background check..

2..Increased penalties for gun owners that do not properly secure their guns from theft or unauthorized use that result in injury or death, Such as fines and/or suspension/revocation of rights to posess firearms.

3..Medical Background Database...No one that is diagnosed with certain mental illnesses should be allowed to posess or purchase firearms,(ie) Autism,Schitzophernia,Paranoid delusions,BiPolar disorder,mentally challenged,anger management problems ect....Show more

I have... with a friend at a shooting range - it was fun. I also owned a Ruger P95 for a while (I used to live in an inner city and was mugged several times). I am, however, no longer armed - as I don't feel I need it anymore.

But, you know - I think the constitution talks not only about the "right to bear arms" - it says that the country needs a "well-regulated militia."

By well-regulated, they mean well trained...

So, I think there should be stricter background checks... and make it not a "one-time-thing" - people should be properly trained, screened and licensed - and they should go out to be re-tested and re-trained to renew their license once a year...

Then, we'll be "well-regulated" - I think that annual screening would be within the bounds of the constitution....Show more

Shot a H&K 7.62. A friend has one and we went to the police range and fired off a few magazines.
Was at the firing range and a guy was there with an AK I bought a box of ammo from the range and fired it off.

Never fired a piddly 5.56mm but I suppose it has considerably less recoil than the 7.62NATO. My ex boss had a few of them but I never fired them although he offered several times....Show more

I've never fired an AR-15 but if your finger is fast enough it can fire many shot in a very short period of time.

I don't want to ban AR-15 or semi automatic guns in general.
I want to limit the number of sales per person(to fight against black market) and make the magazines smaller....Show more
