2nd, 4th, 5th Amendments?

So many of you like to yap that the 2nd amendment was written in a different time. You say it is outdated. Okay, so do you realize that the 2nd amendment was written by the same people that wrote the other amendments and placed into the U.S. Constitution by the very same people at the very same time? Tell me why it is that you want to believe the 2nd amendment is outdated but you would not hear of how the other amendments are outdated or useless or so on. Tell you what folks. Maybe we would take your argument more seriously if you were to say the rest of the amendments are screwy or that is not what the original intent was, just like you try to argue about guns.

They like having the right to assemble at their hemp festivals and rainbow gatherings and the fact that they can say whatever they want on the internet without the police raiding their house but when it comes to the 2nd amendment they think they can change it and somehow keep the rest of the constitution intact.

Apparently, you are unaware that the 4th and 5th are violated on a regular basis by Homeland Security. Things have changed there as well.

Because freedom of speech, expression, to protest, and all the others are rights that are no different today than it would've been in the late 1700's. Firearms, on the other hand, have become much more advanced and powerful since the 1700's. The question is, do people really need assault guns and other military grade rifles for self defense? In my opinion, they don't. A pistol or a rifle is fine, but anything else is just ridiculous unless you are a police officer or in the military.
Come on people, do some research and think a little before getting all riled up. No one is trying to take away your guns, unless you have military-grade guns, which you don't really need.

this is common ground. i VERY specifically agree w/ the point you're making

the right to bear arms is absolute...but our bill of roghts does NOT specify WHICH arms (and that needs to be debated IMO)

illegal search and seizure is violated...daily in this ation...i will NEVER agree w/ Americans ( or anyone else) being held by our own government w/ out charge..charge them..or release them as i see it..period...

the 5th falls inline w/ that last statement...that we are entitled to a trial...

your question posed is specific to the our recent firearms dialogue....

i have / will always feel that firearms belong in QUALIFIED hands...

thus..my recent postings stating a need for certification to own...(not registering firearms) ..and i certailny dont agree w/ a national data base listing mental health patients...as a matter of privacy...

this is just my opinion...

now..we agree on a lot you and i...will you please get your nut jubs to come to the center on this?

The problem with the 2nd Amendment is that technology and devolving need for militias have a huge factor in the interpretation of it. I don't have a problem with debating that amendment. Technologies and state and national security have changed since that amendment was written. I have no problem with any amendment being argued for those reasons.
