Do you think American kids should still say the Pledge of Allegiance in class?

If they want to. It should be completely voluntary.
I think that they should learn what it really means, first.

Only after they are in high school before that they are just repeating words because they have to. Let them gain the allegience of America on their own not be made to recite it like some 1984 2 minutes hate. If you love something you don't need to be forced to love it or reminded or prompted to love it you just do. You don't have to pledge allegience to your family they earn your allegience if they are good to you.

If u think about it, its kind of messed up that it was ever required... programming children to promise or pledge (using words they can't pronounce or define) to something they don't understand. Its scary. And for a verrrry long time nobody even thought twice about it. There's probably a hundred other things we do, or believe, blindly... simply because thats the way things are done... i can think of a few already.

They should learn the history behind it and what it's all about beforehand. Back in the day, we were reciting it before we ever even took history classes.
