Batman: where should I start in the comics and what additional stuff should i read?

Hello I am a noob and I would like to read Batman and I heard about the new 52 but which series should I read?

Court of the Owls is a good arc. I would start off with older trade paperbacks though. I really like Batman: Hush and it was one of the first ones I read when I started reading comics. That and The Killing Joke.
