Ever since my flu jab last October I seem to have had a permanent cold. My main symptoms are snot, snot and more snot with bouts of sneezing and some coughing. I can't remember more than a couple of days respite in the last 5 months.

That sounds like an allergy, and it probably has little to do with the inoculation. Any number of changes could trigger an allergic reaction, like foods, fragrances, toiletries, laundry soap, pets, plants, etc. Even a substance that wasn't trouble previously could suddenly become a problem for your immune system. You might be able to determine the cause.
