You could say winners and losers but that would be too simplistic. People who look reality in the face are the strong ones who generally know who they are and what they want, and are not afraid of what reality is. They will deal with it whatever it is. The other group is afraid. They would rather live in a dream world to avoid the harshness of the real world (reality). Fear is a killer.

It means that the world has a way of modifying our perception so that we take the 'wait and see' philosophy. Whereas when we take life's gambles and risk with a clear conscious we succeed
