lenovo ideapad p400 touch screen suddenly turned dim?

the laptop suddenly turned dim one time during use and ever since that happened, I cant change the brightness anymore. I set the brightness all the way to the max and its still dim. Its also fairly a new laptop since I only had this for a few months. Is this some kind of a hardware problem?

I had the same problem with my P400. Try turning the laptop off completely. Then press the F12 key down and hold it down as you turn the computer on and it boots up to the sign on screen. Your screen should now be normally bright; at least it worked for me. Release F12 and you're ready to go.

This morn I woke up to the exact same problem. After about an hour and a half of frustration and thoughts of reaching for a big hammer I found that to solve the issue one needs to go to the lenovo website and download the prior driver. That should solve your problem and put that hammer away!
