What do you do when your iPod screen suddenly turns blue and nothing works?

I was trying to play a video on an iPod 5G, 30GB with about half full battery. The screen suddenly changed blue and nothing works. I tried turning it off but it won't work. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how can I fix it?

Hold the middle button for a while, if this does not work, you can always try your favorite hammer. Aim for the middle of the screen (I tried this a couple weeks back and it works fine)

Try to reset the iPod by holding down the MENU button and the middle circle button at the same time for a few seconds until the screen goes off and back on and you see the apple symbol and it restarts.

Have you tried plugging it into the computer?

You could also take it to the Genius Bar at your nearest Apple Store for help. Be sure to get a reservation (I think you can do this online) because it often has a long line.

Right click on the display area >properties > screensaver tab >power >power sceme tab ensure the four entries are set to never (they are on mine) it doesnt effect the screensaver, that will still work The new memory If the memory is rated at a faster speed than your computer specs, then it will be running under "backward compatable" mode. I have had experince where this causes apower glitch about 4 hours on. I had to purchase memory at the rated speed of the spec to fix it. you can prove it by removing a stick If it appears to be stable with any one stick, but unstable with both then this may be the problem.

try resetting it by pressing the menu and the center button.

if it doesnt reset, try letting the battery die, then plugging it into your computer

and if that doesnt work, most likely something is wrong with teh harddrive in your ipod and you will need to get it replaced.

Something happened, like it burned up inside or it malfunctioned. Sorry to say this, but you need to replace the iPod.
