Unlikely because if he was spying for China, why would he expose himself? That doesn't make any sense.

It is a mistake to think Hong Kong and China as the same thing. Hong Kong is very different than China. It is an separate entity and almost like an independent country. Hong Kong is governed by common law very much like the UK.

Snowden runs to HK thinking they will protect him, but in reality its the Chinese government that do. Because HK doesn't have its own foreign relations, thats handled by Beijing and those in Zhongnanhai.

If he isn't, he is stupid to trust a country like China. The man might be noble but he screwed up where his loyalties lie. China is the worst police state in the world.

It's possible. But even if that is the case, it only goes to show, that the government, no matter what tools it has been provided, cannot keep us safe. Not even against those who work for it. I would rather keep my privacy, then to have it taken for the facade of security.
