Vegan diet, late period?

I've been vegan for about four months now. This month, my period is a week late. I've never had sex EVER and I'm worried that it could be a health issue (cancer, cyst, anemia). Could it just be my body adjusting to my new diet?

Have yourself checked for pcos if you think you have a cyst, and if this is common for you. Also, let your doctor know that you're on a vegan diet. He could do blood work on you to see if you're deficient in any nutrient, such as iron, B12, etc. Are you keeping track of your calories, and where the calories are coming from (fats, carbs, and proteins)? You need a certain amount of each daily, if not, your body starts having problems. You may feel like you're eating a lot, and that you're eating very healthy because you're consuming fruits, veggies, etc., but if you're not getting enough calories in total, again, you will have problems. For the most part, fruits and vegetables are pretty low in calories.

I've been a vegan for nearly a year and my cycle isn't regular. Don't sweat it; it's only been a week. In my experience, very few women have a strict 28-day cycle schedule. Also, if you're in your late tweens/early teens, your cycle isn't going to be regular anyway at first as your body's getting used to getting older and being able to have kids.

It could be a diet thing so see your Doc for a check-up anyway, you should change like that with out medical advice as it may not suit you.

Yeah that's probably the problem. If you miss more than 2 that's a good sign to go to the doctor

no one has perfectly spaced periods. no one.
The average length of a cycle is 28 days but I never had mine that often, ever. Mine were more often 30-35 days apart.
According to this link, both longer and shorter cycles are perfectly normal.
