I went vegan and now my period is 4 months late?
I started being a vegan in September and had the weekends for vegetarian foods (in other words, I ate dairy products on the weekends, but not weekdays). Since then, i haven't had my period. I'm 17 years old and still a virgin, so I understand that it may just be because my hormones are still imbalanced, but I told some friends and they're a bit concerned. I lost a fair amount of weight, and I'm still betting it's on that, but I was hoping someone who's dealt with this before could provide some insight. Thank you!

First of all, if you have been eating dairy, you are NOT vegan. Veganism is not a part-time endeavour and consists of much more than what you put in your mouth; it means changing what you wear, the products you buy and industries you support.
If you have lost weight and your body fat has fallen below a certain level, your period may stop. This is not caused by vegetarianism; it is caused by you eating too little.
You can continue your vegetarian diet but you will need to eat more.... and eat a variety of foods.

LOL, dairy isn't vegan, and most dairy products aren't even suitable for vegetarian diet. cheese has rennet, sweets have gelatin, the lactate in milk is curdeled using animal enzymes.
I don't know what's causing your period delay, but I CAN asure you, it's got nothing to do with diet. perhaps you're just having a late period.

Then you're not vegan. Sorry to burst your bubble, why even bother calling yourself "vegan" if you eat cheese from cows?
The label ?
You probably did that thing people do when starting a veg/an diet and eating way fewer calories, and most of those carrots and lettuce. You've already said you lost a ton of weight. THis is the bad and irresponsible face of someone who doesn't really get it about veg/anism. Just eat more. More fats, more calories. It's posts like this that give veg/anism a really bad name.
Your body is using up what little fat you have to survive, and can't waste any on a period. Eat more.

You should eat a variety of naturally occurring foods like fruits, vegetables, pulses, nuts, seeds, grains and dry fruits.

How much weight have you lost? Are you still losing? If so, you have to realize you are probably damaging your body...the one you will be depending on for another 60 or so years. You should give it more respect.
Yes, it could be the weight loss...or if you are eating a lot of soy (soy burgers, soy hotdogs, soy cheese, tofu, soy milk, etc) it could be the estrogen like compounds in soy. They have been shown to affect women's menstrual cycles, lower men's sperm count and damage the thyroid gland.

happens. don't worry. same thing occurred with me, and it came again. each time I do yoga it starts again. but if you're seriously concerned, then you might ask your doctor

Go to your doctors and make sure your healthy. Your period doesn't have anything to do with what you eat. You might be overly stressed, not enough sleep, not enough exercise, etc. Your doctor might tell you the same thing but just be aware that there might be something wrong with your body.
