To all muslims : how do you accomplish the obligtion to give zakah as charity in islam every year?
What are kind of zakah we must fulfill in our life? I find it a little bit complicated to count zakah al mal. While a farmer should pay zakah for his cultivated crop, then as a working office girl, should i pay a zakah for my profession instead.

Let's say I had $4000.00 in my saving Account in year 2012 on the first day of the month of Ramadan or on any other month. In the same month if I add in my saving account additional $2000.00 and add another $1500/in July of 2012.
On the first day of the month of Ramadan in the year 2013 I shall owe Zakah on $4000.00 +$2000.00 =$6000.00 @2.5%=$150.00.
Because additional $2000.00 was added in July 2012 and didn't remain in account for 12 months. I shall not owe Zakah on $1500.00 which I added in my saving account in July and this money remained in my account only six months.
If I pay zakah in the month of Ramazan every year, then I shall owe Zakah on entire $7500.00 @ 2.5% 1st of Ramadan of 2014 =$182.50
If for example I spent $1000.00 out of this account in December 2013, then I shall pay zakah on only $6000.00 @ 2.5% = $160.00 on 1st of Ramadan 2014
If I have an oil well and I made 50,000.00 in year 2012 (after deducting all expenses of extracting oil out of the well including salary of an operator of well and maintenance expenses on this well. after $50,000 remained in account for entire 12 month then I shall pay zakah on oil income $25% because I did nothing to extract oil out of the ground.
If had income on my agricultural land or raising animals born the female cows and this income was in income for over 12 months. Rate of Zakah on agricultural products or the animals is different rate to pay the Zakah.
I hope you understood the rules and will apply the rules correctly. It is better to pay little more than paying short. I shall receive reward from God if I paid more money than I owned to God, considering the extra money I pay as Charity to poor people.
Muslim pays Zakah or charity himself to a poor family he knows personally or he pays to a charity organization. If he doesn't know any poor man he can pay zakah to Imam of his Masjid who always knows some poor family in community that deserves zakah money.
