was this really too old?

I froze a leg and a piece of breast meat from x-mas turkey and just used it in work lunches. This was greeted with horror at work hugh? this after growing up on a farm with home grown butchered meat going a year or more in freezer regularly. Have freezers become less effective?

No, it's not the freezer, it's the people around you. Apparently they must be too good to freeze leftovers? Or are uneducated on how to freeze things properly (as you are) so they don't get freezer-burnt? Or have no clue that freezing halts the bacterial growth? They're just ignorant, or try to look for ways to look down on people to make themselves feel superior.
