What is this? (pic attached)?

I found this at a garage sale and was hoping that maybe it was worth something...? It looked cool anyway...
The picture isn't very good quality, but it's on a gold colored chain and on the top of the thing it says "STVART" or maybe it's "STUART." I'm not sure but then on the right side is a lion standing on its back legs and on the other side is a horse or maybe a unicorn(?) standing on its back legs. I say unicorn because when I googled "Stvart", it showed coat of arms emblems that looked almost identical to this with a few differences and it was unicorn. I haven't come across anything that could help me figure out what this means or is or if its worth anything so I was hoping you guys could help. Thanks!

In terms how much I can't really say as I am not an expert in this field. Although I had a look for a while & the whole research led me to dates from 1707! I would bet it is worth something for definite. I just don't know how much. This seems like a hidden treasure however. Due to the rarity since I can't find much of anything about it anywhere. This is something that should lead you to track perhaps http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Stuart From it's rusty & unkept condition it suggest to me it has been around for some time. So I think the best thing you can do is take it to experts you don't want to let go of something that could be worth loads. I hope you find out what it's worth and let me know! Have a look online do a little research or maybe ask on a forum which have this as their expertise. There are many experts on antiques around you just need to look. http://money.cnn.com/2002/06/03/pf/yourhome/q_appraise/
