My cats love to sleep on my legs no matter where I am in the house. I think it's not only for the extra warmth from me but also because they just like to be close to me. As a matter of fact, right now I have Trouble(cat) laying across my ankles, Mojo(cat) tight up against my lower leg, Sierra(dog) also tight up against my leg only higher up then Mojo, Missy(dog) under the blanket by me feet, Little Girl(cat) up around my neck as I am leaning against my pillows in bed while using my laptop. Mia and Max(both dogs) and Mama and Shadow(cats) are also on the bed but not on me but close by. If I go into the other room most of them will follow and try to get close to me if I sit on the sofa but also if I go in the kitchen as they all just like to be close by me.

People are warm. Cats like to sleep on warm things. Never leave a cat alone with a sleeping baby.

Cats are reminded of kitten hood & being close to their mother when they sleep on us or against us. It's a great sign of trust too between cat & owner & is also a safe place for them to relax. Not all cats do but is not a bad sign if they choose to be independent somewhere else.

Cats lay on people to get warmth and comfort. They enjoy a human's body temperature. Also they enjoy the companionship of their owner. There is also another reason for this. They feels that they are secure.

It's partly a comfort thing, but mostly warmth.
If you see cats (that trust each other) sleeping, they're all curled around each other. We're just a large heater to them.
