Why is my computer screen black?

G72T-200 Notebook Windows 7 64 BIT

ATI Mobility Radeon Premium Graphics Card

- Okay so I was browsing the internet playing a game when my computer began a shutdown process which I thought was strange because it didn't warn me. Then when it got everything closed and came to the login screen it said windows is installing updates so I just figured no problem. When the computer restarted however the screen was completely black and has remained black.

- Also another thing about 3 days ago the computer slipped off a small bedstand about 1 foot high and when I came back to the computer certain parts of my screen had a red tint. But after an hour or so that disappeared, I'm not sure if that is at all related or not but I wanted to include it.

I have installed the newest graphics card update and taken the battery out for like 30 seconds or so but neither of those things helped. I currently have it plugged into a wired monitor and it works fine. Also I did the trick where you take the battery out and power and hold the power button down for 60 seconds and that didn't work either.

I just got my laptop back from repair. Had a similar problem. I turned on the laptop and the lights at the bottom would turn on but the screen itself stayed black. I took it to a neighborhood service center and they told me it's probably an overheating problem. So I sent it to Toshiba since I had a warranty. They fixed it but in no document, receipt or in-voice did they mention what the problem was, which part was replaced and how to prevent it from happening again. So if the screen isn't working it's most probably a hardware problem.

Check the connection once again.
