How strict is Allegiant Air about carry on bags dimensions?

We're going to be flying soon on Allegiant Airlines and their carry on bag policy states that you can bring on a bag that is 9 x 14 x 22 inches "including any wheels and handles" etc. The bags I have used for years and have always carried on other airlines are these exact measurements "not" including the wheels and handles.

I figure the bags I have are standard size and I can't imagine them being so strict as to get picky about the "wheels and handles" when boarding but it's written into the wording about baggage size limits.

Has anyone flown with them and had any issues with bag size? Or, has your experience been that they aren't as strict in person when boarding as the rules on their website imply?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Allegiant Air Carry On Policy

Allegiant is one of the low life rat airlines. They make money by screwing their customers. They are very strict with their rules. They don't care one bit what you have done with other airlines. Envision a sizing box made to their exact dimensions and then realize that your luggage must fit in that box. Obviously if wheels and handles stick out past those dimensions, your luggage won't fit! In this age of full flights and charging for checked bags, even the real airlines are getting strict about carry on size.

There is limited room on planes these days for carry on luggage because every seat is filled on most flights. Oversize items would delay the seating of passengers when the overhead bins get full. If the staff thinks yours is too big, they may take it from you and put it in the hold. This is to assure that it does not delay the departure.
