Does anyone know if US Airways is strict about carry-on bag dimensions and weight?

I'm reading on the US Airways website that carry-on bags can be up to 45 in/115 cm (14 x 9 x 22 in or 36 x 23 x 56 cm). I have a duffel bag that is 23.5 in length that I planned to carry-on, but now I am worried that they will force me to check it. Is US Airways very strict about these dimensions? Since the bag is 1.5 inches longer, will they make me check it? Also, if it happens to be more than 40 lbs (their other guideline), will I be forced to check? Do they even weigh carry-on bags?

no the carry on is not too strict in terms of weight and dimensions (I travel all the time and have never had my carry ons questioned) However, the checked luggage is usually weighed and extra fees are added.

    Hello,

Each air line has it's own rules. Average carry on size could be up to 24 in. Three major airlines, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, and United Airlines have all decreased their size allotment recently to 22” long x 14” wide x 9”tall (56 x 36 x 23cm). Southwest Airlines and Jet Blue on the other hand allow carry ons to be 24” long x 16” wide x 10” tall. That’s a total of 50 linear inches!
