How Accurate Is A Provisional Pathology Report?

A friend received a provisional pathology report after having surgery for colon cancer. The report stated there was no cancer in the lymph nodes. However, the final pathology report is pending.

How accurate is the provisional pathology report? If it shows no cancer, what is the likelihood the final pathology report would show cancer?

When they do a provisional pathogy report it means that at the moment they cant see cancer cells in the lymph nodes. Pathogy can only see cancer cells when they reach a certain number . Its usually good if results come back clear after 3 months.. i hope your friend is the lucky one.
