Hair Brushes?

Question

So I just bought an Elegant branded 100% boar bristle hair paddle brush. However, when I took it back home with me I realized that it just glides over my hair without penetrating through any of my hair. I can t return it because I bought it from Canada. Is it possible to section my hair off and brush each section? How can I make good use of the brush while brushing my hair?

Oh and also, I have medium/thick hair that s course, a bit short, and somewhat wavy.

yes section it off and brushing though sections is the best way to use a boar bristle brush thats how i have to use mine.

Hog bristle was used more for brushing lint off your cloths.  Pretty hard to run it through hair.  How about keeping it for some sort of cleaning brush?
