What amperage can be obtained from a 150va twin output transformer?

Hi,

If a transformer has a 2 x 50 volt output and is rated at 150va can that supply 6 amps when wired in parallel?

No, it's 1.5A per winding (75VA per winding) so 3A total. Unless it specifically states 150VA per winding.

Note that connecting secondary windings in parallel is not advisable unless the output voltages are very close to each other. If there's a small voltage difference it can result in one winding driving current through the other which will waste a lot of power and could even destroy the transformer. Needless to say you have to wire them in phase.

Connecting transformer secondaries in parallel is not a good idea.

If you need more current than the transformer you have can supply,
get a larger one suited to the load that will be connected to it.
