Do I follow my dreams or go for stability?

I'm in college and as a freshman I'm obviously trying to figure out what I want to do with my life. I've thought of several things including stocks, computers, just plain business but I always come back to the thing I've dreamed of doing since I was 9, which is become a GM for a Major League Baseball team. I know there's only 30 in the whole world but this is the only thing I know and the only thing I am good at. I had a long talk with my parents and they said they'd support me financially when necessary, I have a plan somewhat which would start with me attempting to become a scout for a team out of college but idk if I should do that or continue with my degree that the starting average salary for is $70,000. That sounds great but I don't think I'd be happy.

How do you figure that?  You seem to be all over the place in terms of what area of business you want to go into, and I assure you $70,000 is not an average starting salary straight out of college for anyone except New York investment bankers.  Doesn't mean you couldn't work up to a cushy position, but if that's the only thing holding you back, you need to do a little more research.

That said, before you chase your dream, you do need to be realistic.  Do you play baseball, or have experience supporting a team?  If not, see if there's anything you can do to get involved with your school's athletic department.  Also try to connect with some people in the sports management field and see what you can be doing to position yourself for a successful career (if not necessarily a GM role), as well as challenges besides the competitiveness that you may not have thought of.  If you can't get anywhere, take that as a sign you need a backup plan.
