weightlifting doesn't make you tougher. it makes you stronger. And no weightlifting doesn't make you less afraid. it just makes you stronger. what you do with the strength is up to you. Just because you're strong doesn't mean you know how to fight either

It can give you some self confidence but that's only reaching a heart set goal.
