can and should we forward face the sear?

Your toddler DOES NOT hate rear facing. Your toddler is hiring the ""I hate my car seat"" stage.
Are you using a good convertible seat? At that age, the seat does not need the recline like baby seats do.

The law says age one and 22 pounds. That law was written 35 years ago - back in the day when car seats could not rear face above 25 Pounds. Many of today's car seats rear face up to 40 pounds.

Ask yourself.
-- Do you want your child safe based on current car seat crash testing and car seats?
-- or are you OK with using baby safety equipment standards from 35 years ago?

Sweden rear faces to age four. Yep --- age 4. That country has the lowest child injury rate in car crashes.
Up to around age 2-3, a toddlers head is larger in proportion to the body. -- Forward facing under age 2 has lead to serious spinal and neck injury, broken legs, and even death.
-- the National Highway transportation Agency recommends rear face to age three.
-- the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends age two or older.

Parents make up plenty of excuses why they want the MINIMUM protection for their toddler in the car. (Hates rear facing, fusses , too big)

Get a baby mirror for both you in the front, and one for your toddler seat back. That way your lil one can see you. Also play ""I Spy"" games, sing songs. Soft toys can easily lay across their lap....Show more

Legally in most states a baby can be foward facing at one year. It is recommended to keep them rear facing until two years because their necks are still weak....Show more

I think it's just a recommendation to keep them rear facing till 2. Look up your state laws. I personally had my son front facing at 7 months old because he screamed every time he was rear facing. I couldn't stand it....Show more
