Why do people assume college is a walk in the park?

This aggravates me to no end. If I mention that I am really stressed or really tired when I'm at college friends and family that never attended college almost mock me.

Say thing like "oh your life is so bad just wait till you get a job"

I honestly don't get it. They wake up and do their 9-5 jobs then they go home and relax. They also get their weekends off.

In college I wake up. Go to class from 9-3 or 4. Do homework any free chance I have till dinner at six. Then I go and do more homework till 10 at night. There's times I study all weekend literally from 9-9. I don't have a lot of free time.

Why do people act like college is easy? Is it ignorance?

The problem is that plenty of people slack off during college - don't go to class, go to parties, etc. It gives college a bad reputation. If you are at a competitive school and trying to get good grades, it is hard work.

Working is easier! Weekends are completely free. The hard thing about working is that you are usually living on your own and have to cook, clean, etc. for yourself. It also sucks if you have a long commute.

Most people who didn't go to college see college as being one big party, or they didn't go because they didn't need to for the job they have so they don't know how much work and time it takes. All they know about college is partying, fraternities and sororities, sporting events, things that are shown in movies and entertainment that are really only a small part of the college experience.
