Towing a motorcycle more than just to the nearest shop.?
I got caught in a microburst rain storm in North Carolina coming home from Sturgis, SD rally this month. I have road side assistance which was useless. Coming home I had enough money for gas to get home, one night at a state park, and no meals. I didn't have enough cash left for a major tow bill. Does anyone know of a road side assistance company that is willing to tow you home when you are in your home state? The maximum distanceI could find was 100 miles. I was stopped 400 miles away from the house.
No cash for that at the end of the trip. That's the whole point.
Sounds like a good business opportunity then. It doesn't cost very much to outfit a truck to safely transport a motorcycle. Tow companies live for the big expensive tows, motorcycles are under their radar because they bought too much truck for something that small.
Not too bright to be 400 miles from home without cash to cover a 400 mile tow. Who expects that? Nobody can ride 400 miles without a break, or twoI've done 850 in a day, and the electrical system shorted only 200 miles into my day. On a motorcycle ride you have to put in gas. Eating is optional. Breaks are optional. The answers here don't seem very helpful in identifying a company willing to offer actual roadside coverage that does something other than save money by limiting the tow distance.
