Someone tried stealing my motorcycle last night and destroyed the ignition...?
My key does not work in it anymore, it looks like they used a screwdriver to try and steal it but it didn't work and only screwed up my ignition. My key does not work when I put it in, it just seems like it's the wrong key and does not want to turn. Do you think if I were to jam a screw driver in the ignition (since i'm going to have to buy another one already) I can get it started just to get it to the nearest shop? I live in a rural area and there's not really anything close to here and I don't wanna have to pay for towing, please let me know, thanks.

some ignition switches have two parts an upper section and a lower to try to keep it from being too easy to steal your bike. WHICH, BUY THE WAY, THAT REALLY SUCKS!!!! personally, I would not do anymore damage to the bike, I dont know what kind of bike you have, but if its a honda, pull the ground wire off the ingnition wires on the bottom (black wire) the older honda had a negative ground system, and by disconnecting it I was able to start mine that way.
You will be surprised at how much that dang switch is , if it is a two piece sometimes the bottom one can be used still if the screwdriver did not damage the bottom piece. good luck. you may want to make some safer arrangements to store your motorcycle .

You did not say what kind of bike--If the key goes in on top of the triple tree, most of those only have 4 screws that hold them in.They are held into the frame by 2 T-40 torx bolts with anti theft(sometimes) prongs that stick up in the middle of the hole.It is a special bit--stick your finger in it and see if you can feel one-if not you can use the regular one.The other 2 screws are usually phillips heads.

Hi sorry to hear this but this a regular thing in some towns, you the owners have to foot the bill unless the insurance company pay you back for the tow and the work that needs to be done.
have you reported it to the police, they put this on there vandilism register.
but where you park the motor cycle might not be the best place if it's hidden from view or in a dark place.
