People say RIP for the deceased, but why don't they say LIP (Live in Peace) for the living?

I don't have a particular answer to this question, bjt it made me think of an old Anne Frank Quote-

“Dead people receive more flowers than the living ones because regret is stronger than gratitude.”

What I don't get is.. is why say it to a deceased person.. are they waiting for an 'Ok, thank you, I will!"?

A Catholic can be certain of their salvation if they successfully complete the Nine First Fridays Devotion in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Because it is a little dis-respective and sounds like your making fun/mocking the phrase RIP

Kind of like "Live Long And Prosper", eh? So why DON'T you use that?
