Whether it's because you hated them, or even if you thought there were decent but just didn't deserve the high praise they got, what are some of the most overrated shows in your opinion?
These are some that I find very overrated:
The Hunger Games films, Fast and Furious films, Harry Potter films, Avatar, The Hurt Locker (Did NOT deserve an Oscar), and Titanic
1. It's a Wonderful Life (1946) 2. Citizen Kane (1942) 3. Bridge on the River Kwai (1957) 4. A Clockwork Orange (1971) 5. The Great Dictator (1940) 6. Harold and Maud (1971) 7. Top Hat (1935) 8. The Shining (1980) 9. The Matrix (1999) 10. Casablanca (1942) 11. Psycho (1960) 12. Sherlock, Jr. (1928) 13. La Strada (1954) 14. The Seventh Seal (1957) 15. Rashomon (1950) 16. His Girl Friday (1940) 17. Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956) 18. Modern Times (1936) 19. It Happened One Night (1934) 10. 2001 a Space Odyssey (1968)
I don't really think of things as overrated. It implies that you think people are wrong for loving a movie/book/show, and since art is subjective, there's really no such thing as wrongly loving something. That being said, there are certainly popular films that I personally dislike. (Even though I'm not too picky generally) I agree with you on all of yours, except Titanic. I have very mixed feelings about it. Anyway, I guess I'll talk about Disney/Pixar first. I really despise The Little Mermaid in particular. Sleeping Beauty, Cars, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc, Mulan, Hercules, Tarzan, Pocahontas, all are blech. Other ones would be: -Forrest Gump -A lot of Spielberg movies like Saving Private Ryan and Close Encounters of the Third Kind (E.T. is an exception though, I do love that movie, mostly from nostalgia. Schindler's List is pretty good too) -The Usual Suspects -Citizen Kane -Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind -My Neighbor Totoro (I'm a huge Ghibli freak but I think this movie is highly meh compared to the others) -Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (Indeed, most westerns. Ugh) -Annie Hall
There are more, those are ones that come to mind pretty quickly.
Edit: Oh yeah, aside from Home Alone, which is awesome, I'm not big on John Hughes movies. Ferris Bueller especially. Ugh, I want to slap that kid in the face.
