How big is the download for the xbox one first time use, and is the download to flash drive option still unavailable?

I believe the day-one update is about 2 GB -- that's how big the new dashboard update was, and that's basically what's getting downloaded. It can only be downloaded directly to a console, and it will probably always be like that as an anti-piracy measure.
