New to IT field and I was offered for help desk job long term contract.?

My situation.
35 years old, Just got IT bachelor degree and comptia A+ cert. No experience in IT field. Got enough pc building experience.

Today, I got job offer for help desk for $13 an hour and told it was long term contract(2020) but I will have a chance to get promotion if I do good. I don't mind doing the work for only $13 for an year or so, so I can build my experience for higher jobs. What concerns me is long term contract. That means they could just make me stuck at that job for $13 an hour for next 4 years without promotion. Is it worth it? If I was like 25 years old, I wouldn't mind but at my age, I can't really afford to waste 4 years.

4 Year Contract at $13? I highly recommend staying away from that gig. The IT world is ever changing, jobs are everywhere and you have a lot to lose if you lock into that kind of a contract. Don't worry about your age, you are great! Getting education and moving up in the world is great at any age. However, you should not be locked into any job for longer than 1 to 2 years. 2 years would be if they offered an amazing sign on bonus, etc.

Four year contract?   There is something fishy with this job.   I have never in my life heard about a four year contract where you are bound to stay or else.

Thank them profusely for the opportunity but, a four year contract is out of the question.  Then ask them if you could sign a ONE YEAR contract.  If they say YES, then do it and get your experience.  If they say NO, then get out of there and run for your life.  Something is all wrong at that place.
