is it safe to update my iphone at a public wifi space like mcdonalds?

my internet at home is really slow and my phone's update is about 1GB which would probably take at least 14 hours to download, quite possibly 24 hours if my internet is being sucky at that time. Would it be safe to go to mcdonalds with my laptop to update my phone? how long do you think it would take to download?

You will find that the Internet Connection at MacDonald's will be slower then the one you have at home, unless you find a MacDonald's that is open 24 hours and go when no one is there.
Other than that it would be safe to do updates.
I would go to my local Library and use their WIFI.
