purina bright mind food any help? have a 13 yr old going senile?

It's not a very high quality food that just has some supplements added to support neurological function. It's not going to help with canine dementia, and if your dog is eating a better quality food currently, switching to a lower quality kibble just because it has supplements added could be more detrimental than helpful. Adding a supplement with EFA/DHA/Omega 3/Omega 6 (which is what this food had added) to a quality food won't hurt, and might slow the decline. The prescribed drug Anipryl can help markedly in some dogs and will do more than any supplements. Sticking to a routine at home and taking steps to reduce stress for the dog can also help....Show more

Your vet has real medication for canine dementia. I don't know if or how much the dog food would help. The sooner you get the dog on meds,.the better it will be....Show more
