How much or how often is food thrown away in the us army?

A lot, especially at the end of the day. I snagged some great pork chops one night (before they got put in the trash cans) when I was on KP. They were pretty dang good. There's no raiding the fridge in basic and I was always hungry.

Not sure what you are looking for. The military would use leftovers when possible, but fresh food is required for a ready force.
