Those who have gotten into vet school: I am talking about acceptances into the school with your undergraduate degree!?

I attended a community college to start. I received a C in gen bio 2, and organic chem 1 and 2. I went on to get my Bachelors and calculus. my GPA was reset. I believe in my first semester at a university I am getting a c in Genetics and Small Animal Science. Now, I don't know what my overall GPA will be with yet because I have A's in my others classes. I am wondering how bad c's in the pre req's hurts your chances of getting into vet school. Also, how do vet schools view retaking of classes? Help Please!!

You can only apply and see. Most vet school applicants take a couple of years out doing a 'vet track' job while they study for the VCAT and GRE. Your animal experience is probably the most important part of your application. They go all the way back to your pre-undergraduate experience to be sure that you are the right kind of applicant.

My daughter is at vet school now and redid her organic chemistry during her vet track time. It did not seem to damage her prospects. She went to an out of state vet school which is harder to get into because her vet track job was in MA (no instate vet school).

She is not particularly academic but did a ground breaking undergraduate thesis on primate learning. She also had experience with a wide variety of animals; pretty much everything except pets. Vet schools steer clear of applicants who want to become a small animal veterinarian because they want to restrict supply. Radiology would be the one to go for.
