Moved across the country to get a job relevant to my major and in two weeks I will be working 6 days a week. Until then I'm siting pretty on $1000. Any ideas how I can get some kind of money into my account while I wait for my job to start? I tried Craigslist but keep getting scammed....

Call a temp agency and tell them you are available immediately. Babysit - see if there are any babysitting agencies or post a profile on Care.com (but beware of scammers) Sell anything you don't need for cash on Craigslist. If you know anyone in that town, ask to stay with them while you try to Airbnb your own place. Go into a local bar/restaurant and offer to work for tips for 2 weeks.

Your income (pay check) will take another 2-4 weeks after you start working there. You should have been aware of this fact, before you left the previous employment. Get to know your neighbors, babysit, walk pets, perform various 'odd' jobs for others in the community. Get food assistance from neighborhood churches, food pantries, YMCA and drop-in shelters. Sell stuff you don't need.
