Why do a lot of people dislike/hate gay people?

I've noticed most people don't mind women being lesbian, but when it comes to another man being ga, in society, they claim it is a disease/ illness, or how it is a choice, or how it is plain disgusting.

Look I understand​everyone has their own opinion but how can you really KNOW it is a choice either you aren't gay? You can't assume just because one male and female can create a baby, doesn't mean EVERY human being will come out straight.

I mean just LOOK! Our world isn't perfect! We have babies who are born with legs or arm, and some of have problems with gay people? To me it makes no sense, there are so many things society SHOULD hate, but most choose to hate on how another lives their life. You should only be mad if that person is hurting a another person or animal.

Sounds tough. What country do you live in? I hear some parts of America are homophobic.
We don't have this problem in the UK thankfully.
