Is there a huge difference in obtaining a BA in computer science compared to a BS?

I know the technical difference (arts vs science) but is there a true difference when the degree is completed, will it affect ability to get a job? I currently work full time and need to do an online school to be able to have enough time to complete my degree, and the college I d be interested in completing my bachelors from only offers computer science in a BA, no BS. So is this okay to go for? I want to get my CISSP cert after I get a degree and work in securtiy, will getting a BA prohibit this? thank you.

My 20 year old son is a junior CS major at NMSU. It offers both the BA and BS degrees in his field. But only the BS degree is ABET accredited. It requires more math and science.

Yes, a B.S. means you will have to learn more technical things so that means, it will be easier for you to get a job.

Some schools only offer a BA, no matter how much math and science you take. If the school offers both a BS and a BA, do the BS. If they only offer the BA, then that's fine. It helps if they are accredited for computer science, though. And that's usually a BS.

Look at your degree plan. When you interview for a job, just highlight the courses that are relevant to them. BA / BS option might have different courses to take.
