Ask a friend if they will let you practice in their car going up on a hill have them park at a stop sign on a hill and you'll learn real quick. Stay calm and relaxed and you'll get the feel of it really quick and it will be like a light bulb just lit up, it will suddenly make TOTAL sense. Everyone should know how to drive a standard I think before an automatic if for no other reason but, safety. If you're stranded, for whatever reason, and the only available vehicle is a standard then you're going to okay.
?
A lot of how stuff works (good to know what is happening when you push and release clutch, and how to use the clutch properly, if you REALLY want to learn- google the hell out of it then as STEPHEN says it is a LOT of practice.
