What do you think of taking metformin to prevent cancer?

Metformin has been used for a long time for diabetes. It has been studied for some years now as a cancer (prevention) treatment, but articles I'm reading are saying it's too soon to be certain.

How does one do a targeted search, LAN? I searched 'metformin for cancer.'

There is not enough scientific evidence at the moment that it will prevent cancer, & may only prevent certain types of cancer. The side effects of Metformin are quite nasty too. Also, if you're not a diabetic, it could cause your blood sugar to drop too low.

I think that you should read the article you linked to, especially the part where it claims that it's way too early to tell. You should also notice that the article is 5 years old and nothing new has been reported.
I was on metformin, and it comes with a risk of causing your blood sugar to crash. Not worth the risk. Instead of asking here learn to do targeted searches on the latest news in cancer treatments.
