In the old testament. Is there a verse anywhere in which God says that he loves the world?

I think Paul said it in John 3:16 .

Indirectly:

Isaiah 49:6 he says: “It is too small a thing for you to be my servant to restore the tribes of Jacob and bring back those of Israel I have kept. I will also make you a light for the Gentiles, that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”

Why would God want to save the entire world if he did not love the entire world? Compare to what Jesus said himself.

Jn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

No.

But mind you, there was no hell in the Old Testament either.

Several verses in Genesis 1, after each creation, he did state that it was good. Then he created man and
that was that.

That was kind of random.
