they show up on the front page and you can’t avoid them. I don’t look at the questions, but I definitely find it annoying.

it's a fun and easy place to troll. that's why. some are serious, genuine questions, but most are not. i usually avoid that section in general.

So, stop going to the home page for questions. The most active ones land there, and there are a very opinionated group of users who focus on those topics. The site has TONS of non-political questions, in dozens of other categories.

My guess is that they're attention hungry, like, I don't see another possible explanation since politics are pretty simple; some old fool lies to cause a response or to try and gain votes, even pop culture is more interesting lol
