What else is there on Yahoo? You don't need Yahoo for news or eMail. Yahoo Answers is really the only thing that distinguishes Yahoo from other eMail & News services.

“To that end, we have decided to shift our resources away from Yahoo Answers to focus on products that better serve our members and deliver on Yahoo's promise of providing premium trusted content,” Yahoo said.

That's corporate speak.    It's more likely they are simply losing money on yahoo answers.    Finance is almost always why anything starts up or closes down.

It's really unnecessary that Y!A is shutting down... my only guess is that Yahoo! are looking for ways to profit and by shutting down Y!A, it gives them some money advantage... still not fair though. I really like this place, with its' ups and downs.

    Cancel Culture basically...

Yahoo basically wants to be like everyone else... where no strong opinions are advertised via their website.

It's kinda funny because who knows just how far this could go?

It some point we won't have any kind of entertainment... any kind of opinions... or any kind of variety of ideas.

    Funky part?

Violent videogames and adult entertainment have not been targeted by Cancel Culture so - you can easily see who is behind it with this double-standard going on.

You should have received a letter from Yahoo regarding their reasons why in your email. Though this is very sad to me as well, I felt it coming over the last several years. Yahoo stated that Yahoo Answer has become less popular over the years as they claim the needs of members have changed. And because of that they have decided to shift they resources away from Yahoo Answers to focus on products that will better serve  members. I think while that is true, it has to do with many who continue to violate the terms of use. When we joined we had to agree to all terms and conditions. As time went on more or more people did not cooperate. As you stated some are mean. That is a fact, many are indeed very mean spirited in their approach. Many feel Yahoo Answers has come to this decision because it has to do with controlling our freedom speech. Those who feel that way obviously don't respect or know what 'freedom of speech' is or really means. Many people are shocked to learn that the First Amendment free speech guarantee, along with all constitutional rights, only protects us against the government. So, if the government interferes with our freedom of speech, we can bring a First Amendment lawsuit to challenge that. And that's true whether we're talking about a federal government official or a state or local government official. But, as far as, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms like Yahoo Answers it doesn't apply because they are not the government. They are private sector entities, and therefore, they have no First Amendment obligation to protect your freedom of speech. It's basically their house, and they can kick us out if they don't like our behavior. No doubt, Yahoo Answers has a lot of negative, irresponsible, not so kind people to deal with on a daily bases. Unfortunately, the good people pay the price for the bad just like everything else. Things have certainly changed in our world, and not for the better. I enjoyed life better when I thought the world was kind. I will definitely miss all my friends/followers I made here. We must move forward now. Never let those who are pessimistic get you down. Those are the people who always state and expect the worst. Their attitude isn't at all hopeful, they show no spirit or optimism, and can be a downer for everyone else. Pessimistic people believe evil outweighs the good and that bad things are more likely to happen. I never let them get to me, and I certainly will not let them take away my piece of mind. The good people will always out way the bad.

They don't want anybody to have a forum to question our fascist leadership.

Probably because it's costing Yahoo too much money to pay their fringe left censors to delete pro-conservative posts everyday of each week.
