I stand for the anthem, but after I read the full lyrics I can understand why some don’t.
One part goes:
“No Refuge could save the hireling and slave,
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave.”
People who oppose not standing for the anthem, did you know this?

What is your point? Slavery existed at the time, and many people of every social station died.

Nobody cares about the lyrics. That's not what it's about. The Declaration of Independence calls the Indians "savages." That doesn't seem to trouble people.
