I met Senator Chris Murphy at a rally and took a photo with him, and my mom met Senator Richard Lugar at a business lunch, Senator Bill Bradley at a speaking event, and then Representative (now Senator) Ed Markey when he was campaigning door to door and came to my father in law’s house, where she was, and he yelled at Markey to go away.

Yea, when I was in college I met our then current US senator Gordon Smith while we were tailgating in a train station parking lot before a parade. And in high school I also met one of our former retired US senators, who served for 30 years, Mark Hatfield. He has since passed away. Both were very cool when I met them. I think that's because they are politicians so are just personable people.
The late senator Fred Thompson was a family friend. I met Lamar Alexander on a couple of occasions, once when he was the governor of Tennessee and again when he was a senator. I was eating in a local BBQ joint years ago when Al Gore came in to eat but I didn’t get to speak to him.
