Is it illegal to fill potholes your self on public roads? Please re-details on why I want to do this before answering thank you so much?

So I recently broke my axel on a giant pot hole. I contacted the city numerous times about this issue and they always close out my request and they never do anything about it. It’s been two months and I think I made a request a few times during this. And every single one of them I’ve gotten an email back saying that it has been closed .

I will answer throughout but really at the bottom:

Yes, in many places it is very illegal for you to fill holes in the street. No matter how necessary it is. You just can not go randomly repair people's homes. If the person was a jerk and wanted to call the police - they could. Right? You get that?

Well, you could be run over, people are not allowed to just stand in the middle of the street. You could injure someone else who swerves to not hit you. You could leave stuff in the street.

The city does not know what you used to patch the hole - nor do the cops or anyone else. did you use a bomb, dead babies or body parts? I dunno no one does.

When I got a flat tire because OF MY TOWNS sh*tty construction there was a law in place which favored the county and allowed them to tell me to f*ck off. By the time I sued, I would have potentially won. But by the time I sued it would have cost me well over the $100 tire - that make sense?

EVEN IF YOU ARE BEING A GOOD, GREAT and doing a perfect job. No one knows this. You just can't..... The fact you disagree or think you should be able too has little value.... Unless you have a few hundred hours and several thousand dollars to petition the town or sue. You could run for local office (I am not trolling). MOST LIKELY you just say f*ck government and ignore that road when you can. THE TRUTH... When someone dies they will fix it then.....

If you can still get hard copies of all your communications with the city, depending on what was asked and what the responses were, you may have grounds to successfully sue them for repair costs. Make sure you have a strong case because without clear culpability a judge is considerably less likely to hold the city responsible.

It would be illegal to do it yourself, it is not your property, tell the local press, anyone who will listen, and say if you have an accident again concerning a pothole you wll sue the council, you should sue them for the axel.

Oddly enough, no.
It is public property and safety standards are more important than getting the job actually done.

If you have suffered vehicle damage due to poor road conditions, you can file a claim with the city for reimbursement.
