Not the story you get if you watch Fox News, their assessment of Trump's actions during the shutdown from Sean Hannity is a wonder to behold.

He is claiming Trump was begging the Democrats to find a way to end the shutdown with many offers of compromise, showing leadership and "raising above the swamp" that Trump is "standing up for life and death"

And all that was stopping the shutdown ending was the "radical evil Socialist Democrats", "who stand for nothing" who are to blame.

Ironic when you consider 183 Republicans repeatedly voted against the Democrats Bills to end the shutdown....Show more

I am glad that the federal workers will get paid. It is horrible for them when the argument is only over 0.1% of the Federal budget. Part of me is sorry that Trump caved to Nancy and Chuck, but I do think he did the right thing at this point. I probably would have done the same.
I have a friend who is a house painter by profession. I have another friend who is a frame carpenter by profession. Both of these can no longer make a decent living and support themselves and their families because their pay has been drastically cut due to competition with illegal aliens.
A government shutdown was a reasonable course of action when our government refuses to take control of our porous border and stop the continual influx of people crossing illegally into our nation.
