We found an old $100 savings bond (Series E) issued in 1956 to my husband. What is it worth?

These bonds stopped earning interest after they were about 25 or 30 years old: I don't really remember any longer. Generally your bank can tell you what they are worth, and they can deposit the proceeds (at no cost) into your savings or checking account.

For more information on what they are worth and how you can cash them in, see the following site:

I'd love to tell you that it is worth a couple of million dollars but, I don't know. Contact whoever issued the bond and ask them.

Between $745 and $800.

The exact amount depends on which month of 1956.

$747.16 if issued in January or February 1956.
$798.24 if issued in December 1956.

Go and ask at the bank.
